Tree works bordering the footpath alongside Neal’s Place Meadow

Residents may have noticed tree felling and other tree works taking place in the woodland alongside Neal’s Place Meadow.

The Parish Council has been in contact with Canterbury City Council to clarify the reason for the works and the arrangements for access to the site.

We are advised that the works have been instructed by an insurance company as part of measures to mitigate subsidence affecting a property in Glen Iris Avenue. Further felling is still to be carried out, although a date for the remaining works has not yet been confirmed.

The Parish Council has asked that contractors avoid driving across the meadow and, wherever possible, use a route around its edge when accessing the woodland.

The Parish Council appreciates that the extent of the works may be noticeable to residents and understands that there may be concerns about the appearance of the woodland. We will continue to liaise with Canterbury City Council regarding the works and access arrangements and will provide further information as it becomes available.
